Dear Grade 4 Families,
Thank you for everyone for their patience as it has been awhile since my last website update.
Students have finally completed their Science diorama projects have had had a chance to present them in class. The students at HTS have been able to enjoy them on display in the Library during their library times. They all turned out fantastic and the students' hard work and creativity has been enjoyed by all. We have also been working on our novel study and are beginning to write some poetry. Students have been having a laugh writing limericks. We have started doing 2 and 3-digit multiplication in math. Please continue to work on rate of recall of math facts to help them along with this.
Lunch Skating at the East Selkirk Arena has come to an end. Thank you to all the students who took advantage of this special opportunity. Students have also finished their swimming sessions but the fun is not over. Keep a look out for other amazing activities the grade 4s may be involved in, in the upcoming months. Spirit Week will be held March 18-22. Please keep an eye out for information that is sent through School Messenger.
Continued thanks go out to the families that are checking and using the planners daily to communicate with me. Also thank you to families who are sending forms back to school quickly, sending proper clothing, etc. It make such a huge difference in your child's day.
As the weather warms, please remember to send your child with proper outdoor clothing. There is still a lot of snow which is quickly turning to water with MANY muddy sections. Rubber/snow boots and slush pants are highly recommended to wear on the playground until it dries. EXTRA MITTS and SOCKS should also be sent, as it is common that these articles get wet and need replacing throughout the day. If your child does not have a "hanger bag", please let me know. I have a few that can be lent out or I can give you reasonable alternatives. Wet clothing shoved in backpacks and desks is not a reasonable alternative.
Please take some time to browse through my website. I try to update the Home Page periodically 🤞 to help keep you in the loop with things that are happening in the class and school, important dates to remember etc. There are also many math resources, videos, and websites that you can refer to throughout the year. I also updated the photo gallery called "Four-Two, What We're Up To" with more recent activities so go check it out.
Important Dates to Remember
The best way to contact me in via your child's planner in order to inform me of absences, early or late pick ups, money sent, permission forms sent, etc. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to email, call or write a note in the planner.
Take care,
Miss Kalyta
